Here’s a summary of what you can look forward to experiencing at the Masiye Conference. For a full breakdown, visit our Event Programme page.

Our plenary sessions seeks to enlighten delegates on the importance of missionary work.

Under the theme ā€œGodā€™s Missionsā€¦ To A Distressed Worldā€, (inspired by Matthew 9:35-36) these sessions include topics on praying for the unreached people groups and the persecuted Church; working in partnership with the local church; how to mobilise students and graduates for cross-border missions; as well as how one can resource the work of missionaries whether as an entrepreneur or corporate leader.

Our expositions offer a deep and collective time of scriptural teaching. With this, we can anticipate solid commentary and sound reflections on the teachings of the Gospel ā€“ much of which may be an answer to some difficult questions and topics discussed in our small group sessions of which it follows.

This conference offers four seminary sessions; each session being a breakout of up to 10 different discussion topics. In these sessions one can either choose to attend a workshop or discussion focusing specifically on their age and career such as that of ā€œhigh school ministryā€ or ā€œarts and theatreā€ ā€“ or to focus on a topic based on oneā€™s interest and preferences, such as ā€œthe political space: can you be a Christian Politician?ā€ or ā€œA Christians Response to Violence and Injusticeā€.

Bible Studies are suited to will help uplift and encourage you ahead of your day. Centred around a specific topic and verse for the day, each delegate is assigned a group of no more than five people to engage and reflect upon the teaching of scripture with.

Have you ever sought to explore the wonders on offer in and around the city of gold, Johannesburg? This conference includes a day away from the studies into the beautiful nature of South Africa. With an opportunity to take photos, partake in fun activities, go sightseeing and enjoy local cuisine ā€“ this is surely a momentous occasion one would not wish to forget about when attending the conference.

With various missionary organisations across Africa and the need for the Gospel to reach the unreached, our exhibition session offers a great opportunity to learn what various missionary work a variety of non-profit/charities do and how you can be involved. From itā€™s involved in sensitive countries where the Gospel may not be proclaimed and Christianity is banned from being claimed as oneā€™s belief; to humanitarian efforts to help assist the poor, abused, sick and broken hearted.

With delegates from across Africa and the IFES global footprint, the Masiye Conference offers a great opportunity to network, socialise and meet new friends, inspirational teachers and leaders, prominent business leaders, missionaries, organisational leaders across the various student ministries, students, teachers and church leaders.

Each day is well-catered for with a meal accommodative to oneā€™s dietary requirements. With its rich flair of tasty cuisine, South Africa is well known for its barbequed meat, stews, doughnuts, and fried bread known as vetkoek. These are some delicious meals you can anticipate.

Upon the day of arrival, supper is served whilst the day of departure is inclusive of breakfast only. All other days are inclusive of three-meals with the possibility of a light snack and beverage in between sessions.

The greatest part of the conference is not the luxury but the mandate ā€“ to go to Godā€™s world, taking the Gospel to the nations. Commissioning speaks to this. This session seeks to help make the mandate realistic and practical for delegates – both stewards and organisational leaders.

Going to a distressed world comes with its own sets of restrictions, fears, phobias, and limitations. It is risky, and something not every believer might wish to risk their lives for. This is why this moment of commissioning is an opportunity to not only listen to the stories of how and what to do but to pray and understand the mandate in what can and what needs to be done by the everyday Christian and ourselves as members of the global church.

ā€¢ How does a local student ministry fit in?

ā€¢ How does a pastor with a small congregation play his part?

ā€¢ What can the leader of a ministerial organisation do to better help serve the kingdom?

We address and discuss these difficult questions in conclusion to the conference.

Avoid the difficulties of getting to and forth from the conference by living in the heart of the city. Each conference pass/ticket is inclusive of five-nights lodging in a centralised location with transportation to and from the venue.

Alternative arrangements can be made for groups desiring separate accommodation or individuals living close to the city.
